ForChange & Game Development

 

ForChange was an interdisciplinary research association based at LMU Munich und funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Art with a four-year term from 2013-2017.

The research association chose the innovative method of game design to synthesize its scientific results and transfer the developed resilience games into the education sector. Various partners such as game developers or actors of the sustainability sector were involved in the process and professionalized it, ensuring, that the impact of the research association grew beyond.

Resilience Earth

The players of the game populate the planet Earth and increase their tangible and intangible resources. However, the increasing settlement as well as the extraction and use of tangible resources leads to environmental pollution. Only if the planet is preserved, the inhabitants will have a liveable future.

Balance of Civilizations

The various sectors of society such as economy, science and politics fulfil important tasks for the common good. If they are developed in a reasonably balanced manner, they contribute to social peace. If this does not succeed, civil war breaks out and destroys society.

Mass media construct reality according to their own rules. In order to be able to get orientation in an increasingly complex world, civil society is, however, still dependent on mass media and their reporting. Is the latest headline trustworthy? How much selective reporting is allowed and are media-literate recipients able to assess the information content realistically?
